Craftsman Cordless compressor

Breaking the Mold—Designing the First Truly Portable Cordless Compressor

State:
In production

Client:
Stanley Black & Decker

Stanley's first cordless compressor redefines portability and power in a category long rooted in tradition. As the first of its kind, this tool was designed from the ground up with a clear goal: make pneumatic tools mobile—no cords, no compromises.

From an industrial design perspective, every decision was guided by ease of transport, user clarity, and a strong visual identity. The large, centrally positioned top handle is engineered around the center of gravity for a balanced, effortless carry. The compact, sculpted body signals its electric nature instantly—breaking away from the bulky, engine-heavy look of traditional compressors.

I introduced bold gray air vents as a separate design element—both functional and expressive—giving the form a sharp, futuristic edge that hints at the power within. The interface features intuitive, modern air regulators, making operation easy even for first-time users, all while staying true to Craftsman's tough, dependable aesthetic.
